5 TIPS TO TAKE GREAT PICS EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT A PRO

Posted on 29 August 2017

The first one might sound obvious but trust us – it’s one often overlooked.

CLEAN YOUR LENS. Yup, we told you it sounds obvious.

Ignored by many but absolutely crucial for a good photograph. If you have ever worn sunglasses where the lenses are dirty, then cleaned them and went – Oh, that’s better! This is what we are talking about. Remember the camera lens is like you eye, if you can’t see properly, your pics won’t be good either.

GET UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL (but don’t be a weirdo, maybe not that close).

Showing less but with more substance is usually more impactful. If you are taking pics for any social media, this is especially true for small screen views. You want to capture someones attention in a split second when they scroll down.

HOW LOW CAN YOU GO.

We are certainly not suggesting you do some sort of contortionist backbend, but you’ll be surprised how different a pic can look just by bending your knees. Don’t be afraid to move, up, down, left or right - It can change your entire photograph. So get moving…

IF IN DOUBT SHOOT STRAIGHT.

Take a second to look at all four corners of your pic, remember that a photograph is not only about the middle but needs to be balanced within four corners and the centre. Include only what makes your pic better and exclude what distracts from it.

DON’T BE AFRIAD TO USE WHAT’S OUT THERE.

There are so many apps and tools to help you edit and enhance your pics, and don’t worry it’s not cheating to use them. Do be aware of overworking your pics though, keep it as original as possible. Cropping and adjusting contract and brightness normally makes for a better pic. One of our favourite apps is Snapseed, super easy to use on your phone as well.

Above all – have fun!

Feel free to tag us in pics where you have used our tips, who knows, there might be something in it for you… ;)
